Activated Zeolites
Years of experience in the production of zeolites have enabled Silkem to develop a programme of activated zeolites ASORBIO®, thus entering the market of adsorbents and molecular sieves. The product group include several types of zeolite activated powder (ZAP) and zeolite activated granulate (ZAG).
The large specific surface of molecular sieves and the multiple strong adsorption sites in the porous structure of zeolite, which are obtained with thermal treatment, mean that ASORBIO® products display exceptional adsorption properties even at very low concentrations of adsorbate molecules. ASORBIO® ZAP is distinguished by the controlled particle size free of impurities. ASORBIO® ZAG has excellent flowability, wettability and regeneration properties, does not cause dusting and allows airflow in filling.
Chemical Industry
Zeolite activated granulates (e.g. ASORBIO® ZAG-MFI) are used as catalysts in the chemical industry in various organic and inorganic reactions or as carriers of active components in catalytic reactions.Gas Purification
ASORBIO® ZAG molecular sieves enable adsorption, which is a highly energy-efficient gas separation process. Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) is used to produce high purity gases (O2, CO2, He, Ar, H2, etc.) with zeolites.Desiccants
Molecular sieves or ASORBIO® ZAG 4A zeolite activated granulates are hydrophilic zeolites with a high affinity for water. They are therefore used as drying agents in various fields.Polymeric Adsorbents
The zeolites in the polymer mixture are used as an adsorption substance in pharmaceutical and food packaging. Zeolites (e.g. ASORBIO® ZAP-3A) are used to produce polymer spacers for insulated glazing.Plastic Recycling
The different pore sizes, hydrophilic or hydrophobic properties of the crystalline structure of ASORBIO® zeolite adsorbents enable the adsorption of diverse unpleasant odour that occur in plastic waste processing and recycling.Water treatment
The use of zeolites in wastewater treatment is a very broad application field. Zeolites are excellent ion exchangers and are able to remove large amounts of heavy metals (Zn2+, Cu2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Fe2+, Fe3+, etc.) from water. They are also used to stabilise the pH value.Cosmetics
Zeolites are used in creams, lotions and other water-free cosmetic products as additives for creating “warming” effect. Water adsorption on ASORBIO® ZAP zeolite activated powder molecules is an exothermic process during which the zeolite is warmed up and releases warmth.Paints and coatings
The molecular sieves of ASORBIO® ZAP zeolite activated powders are a very effective additives for the removal of water molecules in the production of paints and coatings with metallic pigments.
