April 2020 - Special zeolite molecular sieves
During past few years great changes have taken place on the PVC heat stabilization market in Europe. By the end of 2015, ESPA members had completed the replacement of lead-based stabilizers in all their formulations sold in the EU-28 market. Strong public and regulatory pressure to reduce the use of heavy metal (lead, cadmium and barium) based stabilizers will be expanded beyond the borders of the Europe within few years.
Silkem’s (molecular sieves) are non-toxic porous crystalline aluminosilicate materials specially adopted to fit perfectly in PVC formulations. The primary function of our molecular sieves is HCl acid scavenging in PVC formulations. Zeolite molecular sieves are used as a co-stabilizer with zinc and calcium compounds as well as with organotin stabilizers to improve performances and to reduce the cost of the stabilization system.
The main advantage of our special grade PVC modified zeolite is its ultra-clean nature. Our PVC stabilizer tailored zeolites doesn’t contain any visible impurities (black spots), thus it is very suitable for all applications where visible surface defects are unwanted (windows profiles, packaging, furniture, medical use, fine products…).
